Dedicated to Evidence-Based Mental Health Solutions

I (Kapila) am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing therapy to individuals and families throughout California. With over 15 years of experience in mental health and psychology across the United States, I bring a culturally informed, evidence-based approach to helping clients navigate life's challenges.

My professional journey began as a Clinical Psychologist in India, where I worked in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and multidisciplinary healthcare settings providing psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions. Over the past 13 years in California, I have worked extensively in trauma, OCD, anxiety, and depression. These have been at various settings including community mental health programs, school-based counseling, trauma recovery programs, and private practice settings supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

I have significant experience working with survivors of trauma, including sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and complex developmental trauma. Through my work at the YWCA, I have provided trauma-informed care to individuals and families seeking healing from the effects of abuse, violence, and adverse life experiences.

Furthermore, I also have significant expertise in OCD treatment using various cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques. Specifically, I have been focused on using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) methods to support, heal and improve the day-to-day life of those that I support through my therapy practice.

Since 2020, I have provided telehealth services to clients across diverse populations and age groups, helping individuals access care from the comfort and privacy of their homes. I appreciate the flexibility and accessibility that teletherapy offers and strive to create meaningful therapeutic connections regardless of whether sessions occur in person or virtually.

The cornerstone of my approach to effective treatment is building a strong therapeutic relationship. Bring your life experiences, and I will meet you where you are. I grew up in a community where mental health was surrounded by stigma, so I'm committed to providing a safe and supportive space for healing. It’s my honor to walk alongside you during this effective, evidence-based treatment. Together, we will work to identify strengths, build resilience, improve relationships, and create sustainable pathways toward healing and growth.

I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Nepali. I can understand Tamil.
